Virtual Watercolor Workshop!
Date: Sat. Feb. 13th, 1:30 p.m. (California time)
Theme:
We'll have fun using different watercolor techniques that will give you ideas for fun ways to experiment with watercolors any time you want! We'll be creating two unique paintings, if we have time!
Food for thought: Think of one word you like or short phrase t, or a simple design or symbol (like a heart, four-leaf clover, etc.) We'll be using masking liquid to create a unique painting with this.

Supplies:
I’m including links to Blick Art Materials, which I've loved for years since they have everything, and they ship supplies pretty fast and inexpensively, but you also may find these at stores like Michaels.
Lastly, we'll be using this color wheel during our virtual class! No need to study it unless you want to - I'll explain it then. :)

- Watercolor paints
We’ll be mixing some of our own colors, so you only need the basic colors, but if you already have watercolor paints, you can use any colors you like!
If you need paints, then these are great sets. The important thing to have red, yellow, and blue, which we'll use to mix other colors.
- Cotman's
- Winsor Newton - Watercolor paper, two sheets, hot press
Not the end of the world if you can’t get hot press, it’s just fun and dries a bit faster.
I recommend Arches, since it is affordable and it doesn’t pill:
Arches watercolor 9" x 12" pad, 20 sheets
If you can't find hot press, then this is a good cold press pad you can get at Michaels, too:
Strathmore 400 Series Watercolor Paper Pads - Pencil (for light sketching before painting)
- Masking liquid
Make sure it comes in a little pot, not as a pen, and just make sure it’s not permanent! We’re going to peel it off after we’re done painting.
- Michaels (in-person shopping)
- Blick (online ordering)
- Toothpicks (like the kind you have in your kitchen) We'll use these to put the masking liquid on the paper.
- Masking tape. We’ll use this to tape down the paper to keep it from buckling
- Kitchen salt
- Rubbing alcohol
Lastly, we'll be using this color wheel during our virtual class! No need to study it unless you want to - I'll explain it then. :)
